This checklist covers every step from installing Dochly from AppExchange to your first generated document and full team rollout — in one place. Work through it in order. Each item links to the relevant guide for the full walkthrough. Tick items off as you complete them — your progress is saved in this browser session.

How to use this checklist

Phase 1 — Installation

Install Dochly from Salesforce AppExchange

Confirm Salesforce System Administrator access Required to install AppExchange packages. Confirm your profile in Setup → My Profile.

Confirm Salesforce edition (Professional, Enterprise, or Unlimited) Check in Setup → Company Information. Group Edition is not supported.

Install Dochly from AppExchange — "Install for Admins Only" Go to Dochly on AppExchange → Get It Now. Full guide: Install Dochly from AppExchange.

Confirm installation — check Setup → Installed Packages Dochly should appear with Status = Installed. Check the version number matches the latest AppExchange release.
Test
Confirm Dochly app appears in the Salesforce App Launcher Open the App Launcher (9-dot grid) and search "Dochly" — it should appear and open without errors.

Phase 2 — Connection & settings

Connect and configure Dochly

Run the Dochly Setup Wizard on first launch Opens automatically on first app load. Works through authentication, storage, email, and permission set setup. Guide: Connect Dochly to your Salesforce org.

Configure General settings — output format, timezone, date format Settings → General. Set PDF as default, match your org timezone, set a readable date format. Guide: Configure Dochly settings.

Configure Document Storage — attach to originating record Settings → Document Storage. Set "Attach to originating record" and "Create new file" on each generation.

Configure Email Delivery — from name, from address, email template Settings → Email Delivery. Use a monitored company inbox. Verify Salesforce email deliverability is set to "All Email".

Configure E-Signature — expiry, reminders, store signed document on completion Settings → E-Signature. Set 14-day expiry, 7-day reminder, and enable "Store completed document on record".

Assign Dochly Admin permission set to admin users Setup → Users → [Admin User] → Permission Set Assignments. Assign "Dochly Admin" to all template builders and admins.

Verify connection status — all indicators green Dochly → Settings → Connection Status. Confirm all components show connected. Investigate any red indicators before proceeding.

Phase 3 — First template

Build and publish your first document template

Prepare a test Opportunity with Account, Contact, and Products You need a real Opportunity record with at least 2 products added to test merge fields and the line items table accurately.

Create a new template — name it, select Opportunity as primary object Dochly → Templates → New Template. Set status to Draft. Guide: Set up your first document template.

Add document structure — header, recipient section, body, pricing, signature Use the editor toolbar for formatting. Keep the first template simple — branding and advanced features can be added in subsequent templates.

Insert merge fields using the field picker — Account, Contact, Opportunity fields Always use the merge field picker — never type manually. Full field reference: Add Salesforce merge fields.

Preview from a real Opportunity — verify all merge fields, table, and dates Click Preview → select your test Opportunity. Fix any issues before publishing. Check merge fields, table rows, date formats.
Test
Publish the template — set status to Active Only publish after the preview is correct. Active templates are immediately available for generation. Status can be changed back to Inactive at any time.

Phase 4 — Testing

Verify all core functions work correctly

Generate a document from a real Opportunity — confirm PDF created and attached Test 1 from the testing guide. File should appear in the Opportunity's Files related list immediately. Guide: Test Dochly after installation.

Send a test e-signature request to your own email and complete signing Test 4 from the testing guide. Use your own email as the signer address — never a real customer's email during testing.

Build a test Flow and confirm document generation triggers automatically Test 5 from the testing guide. Create a simple record-triggered Flow on Opportunity stage change. Deactivate or update after testing.

Test generation as a non-admin user — confirm all merge fields populate correctly Test 6 from the testing guide. Field-level security issues only appear for non-admin profiles — this test catches them before rollout.

Phase 5 — User rollout

Roll out Dochly to your team

Assign Dochly User permission set to all generating users Setup → Users → each user → Permission Set Assignments → Add "Dochly User". Users without this set will see the app but cannot generate documents.

Add the Generate Document button to the Opportunity page layout Setup → Object Manager → Opportunity → Page Layouts → drag the Dochly Generate Document button into the layout. Save and test from a rep's perspective.

Brief your team — share the template name, how to generate, and how to send for signature A 5-minute walkthrough or written guide for your team reduces support requests. Point them to the Dochly Help Center for self-service answers.
