Salesforce Document Generation Comparison Template: A Weighted Vendor Scorecard (2026)
A Salesforce Document Generation Comparison Template replaces gut feel and vendor marketing with a single, defensible number. Instead of comparing feature pages that are each written to make one tool win, you score every vendor on the same weighted criteria and let the scorecard rank them.
This page gives you a free, ready-to-use weighted vendor scorecard as a spreadsheet, pre-filled with example scores so you can see how it works. Below the download you will find how to use it, what criteria to include, and how to set weights that reflect your team’s real priorities.
It pairs naturally with our 12-point buyer’s checklist and the features checklist, which give you the criteria to score.

Why a weighted scorecard beats a feature checklist
A weighted scorecard turns a subjective comparison into a single number you can defend, because it forces you to decide what matters before you look at any vendor. A plain feature checklist treats every row as equal, so a tool that wins on ten trivial features can appear to beat one that wins on the three that actually matter to you.
Weighting fixes that. You assign each criterion a percentage of the total decision, score each vendor from 1 to 5, and the scorecard multiplies score by weight so the important criteria move the result more. The output is one weighted total per vendor, out of 5, and a ranking. Anyone reviewing the decision can see exactly why the winner won.
The scorecard also creates a written record for procurement and for revisiting the decision later. A year on, when someone asks why you chose a tool, the answer is a saved spreadsheet, not a memory.
What to include in a Salesforce Document Generation Comparison Template
A good Salesforce Document Generation Comparison Template groups criteria into five areas: native architecture and security, core features, cost, support and vendor factors, and ease of use. The template ships with these groups pre-built; add or remove rows to fit your needs.
Native & security
Whether the tool is 100% native, keeps data in your org, and inherits your Salesforce security model. Weight this highest if you are regulated.
Core features
Document generation, templates and merge fields, conditional logic, native e-signature, and batch processing.
Cost
Flat pricing, per-document fees, per-envelope e-signature fees, and one-off setup or migration costs.
Support & ease of use
Documentation, onboarding, support responsiveness, admin setup effort, and the end-user experience.

How to use the scorecard in four steps
Set your weights, score each vendor 1 to 5, read the automatic totals, and check the ranked summary. The whole process takes under an hour once you have shortlisted your vendors.
Name your vendors
Replace “Vendor A, B, C” in the header with the real tools you are comparing, for example Dochly, Conga and DocuSign.
Set your weights
Adjust the weight of each criterion so the total is 100%. The template shows a live total so you know when you are balanced.
Score each vendor
Score every criterion from 1 to 5 for each vendor. Only the blue cells are editable; the weighted values calculate themselves.
Read the result
The final weighted score appears at the foot of each vendor’s column, and the Summary tab ranks them and names the winner.
Setting weights that reflect your priorities
Weight the criteria that would make you walk away from a tool the highest, and the nice-to-haves the lowest. There is no universal correct weighting; the right set is the one that matches your constraints.
A regulated healthcare or financial-services team usually weights native architecture and data residency most heavily, because a non-native tool can be disqualifying regardless of features. A high-volume sales team might weight cost and batch generation highest, because per-document fees dominate their spend. The template’s example weights lean toward native and security; change them to fit your situation before you score anyone.
Set your weights before you see the scores. Deciding what matters after you have looked at the vendors invites you to rig the weights toward a favourite. Lock the weights first, then score.
Salesforce Document Generation Comparison Template: FAQs
A weighted scorecard is the difference between a document tool decision you can defend and one you have to justify from memory. Set your weights, score every vendor on the same scale, and let the number do the arguing.
